University of Pretoria has been drawn to face Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16.
The draw, conducted on Wednesday, sets up a compelling tie between the second-tier side and top-flight opponents. AmaTuks reached this stage after defeating fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship team Hungry Lions on penalties in the previous round this past weekend.
Sekhukhune United, who were runners-up in the 2023 Nedbank Cup, will travel to face AmaTuks.
These two sides were Motsepe Foundation Championship rivals during the 2020/21 season before Sekhukhune earned promotion to the top tier. Both league encounters that season ended in draws.
AmaTuks have a notable history in the Nedbank Cup, having reached the final in 2009 as a second-tier side, only to lose 2-1 to Moroka Swallows at Rand Stadium under coach Steve Barker.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 fixtures will take place next weekend, with exact dates and kick-off times to be announced in the coming days.
